He's a fictional literary character who went from being a pop culture icon, to a shameful caricature of Asians. Charlie Chan was the centerpirce of a series of novels, and movies for more than 30 years. KCLU's Lance Orozco reports that a new book by a U.C. Santa Barbara professor examining Chan's history, and legacy is drawing international attention.

A federally funded jobs program is giving hundreds of Ventura County residents a shot at permanent jobs, by temporarily picking up their salaries, so employers can give them a tryout. KCLU's Lance Orozco talks with program officials, employers, and employees.

Tow truck hits family crossing Ventura County street, drags kids hundreds of feet

Investigators this morning are trying to figure out why a tow truck plowed into a family in Oxnard, and then kept going for another quarter of a mile, dragging a stroller, and critically injuring the two young children in it. KCLU's Lance Orozco talks to eyewitnesses, and police.
